Megalodons: The Quest for Shark Teeth!

I remember May 2003, a trip to Charleston for my sister-in-laws wedding......Newly scuba certified and an article in Advanced Diver Magazine about the shark teeth you could find in the Cooper River. A one trip scuba adventure which has become an addiction still, 10 years later. In this post I...

    Crocodile Jaw found...

2 and 1/2 foot section of a lower crocodile jaw found recently. The teeth went all the way up the jaw line that you see. I guess that the entire jaw was probaly 4 feet long which could have made the entire croc 25 feet long or so. Any tips on preservation?? I have read acetone and butvar.....any...

    Another Minelab Excalibur question........

I have an excalibur too that I have used on land successfully. For diving I attached the "console" of the detector on my bcd and just used the coil by hand holding onto the short shaft instead of using the arm brace frame. I kept getting eractic signal and don't know if the detector was picking...

3rd Dive Day at Old Spot

Well the teeth are getting smaller each week, so maybe it's time to move on to another spot. This week I was so dissapointed in the lack of teeth that I picked up a few vertebraes and other bone material. Thank God on the last dive towards the end of the tank I picked up the largest meg which is...

2nd Dive day at old spot.

This was last week's dive finds at a spot I had given up on. Apparently some new teeth were exposed. Of interest is the almost 4 inch meg and the 2.75 inch benedini. Nice colors on these. Also check out the drum fish plate, never found one with a tooth still in it. You can also see near the top...

    Recent Meg Dive

Did a dive a couple weeks back. Dove a tank and a half in a no viz river and found the tooth directly to the left of the biggest tooth. Decided to move to a black water river that day and found the other teeth, including the largest which was just under 5 inches.

    Dream Shark tooth..........

I would love to hear any stories of a dream shark tooth you have pursued.....and then you found it. Details of how you found it would be great, sort of a fossil Harlequin romance novel so to speak. Size does not matter, no really... just a story of a tooth you always dreamed of finding and then...

Anyone ever find a 7 inch Meg?

Ok, one of my to dos on my bucket list, very near the top, is to find a 7 inch Meg in good condition. I read or was told of one such find and I believe his name is Harry. He was diving in SC and his knee scrubbed something on the bottom of the river, so he reached back behind him to see what it...

Snorkeling Trip on the Alapaha River

We were down on the Alapaha River for Labor Day at my dad's place. This river is in south georgia, just above florida and for most of the year is usually a shallow river. I figured I would carry along my mask and snorkel to see what I could find. There is a curve with some type of substance that...

    Why i dive for fossils........

As I was laying on the bottom of a river this past trip, I was thinking about my journey as a fossil hunter. When your on the bottom of the river with nothing to really see you find yourself thinking about alot of different things. In 02, I received my open water certification and went...

    New diving territory

Ok, i know i have not posted in a while and the reason is i am scouting for new territory. Found a closer creek that is shallower and better visibility. It reminds me of the cooper river because of the depth, visibility, type and condition of fossils. The big fossil weighs approx. 10 pounds...

Anybody diving for Megs this winter??

In years past, I would go out and dive on days with surface temps slightly in the 40's-50's, with the water temp hovering around 50; but this year I just could not bring myself to do it. Maybe if there were more productive fossil sites..... Anyway, wondering if anyone is doing any fossil...
