    Machu Picchu and Galapagos Trip?

I went on a fantastic three week Galapagos & Machu Picchu trip in Aug/Sept 2013. I spent a little under two weeks in the Galapagos where I did a liveaboard and some land based diving (with Scuba Iguana). In Peru I left my scuba gear at a hotel in Lima. As great as the land based diving is I...

Best Liveaboard Serving The Socorro Islands

The following all seem to get consistently good reviews: Rocio Del Mar Solmar V Nautilus Explorer I've been on the Nautilus Explorer twice and would recommend them. They also have a new boat - the Belle Amie.

Vietnam or Thailand or Japan - how's the diving

That's a pretty good summary of diving in Vietnam. I've been diving in Vietnam (Phu Quoc) and Thailand (Similin Islands, etc) and Thailand is much better.

    Liveaboard recommendation for palau

I dove with the Palau Siren and would recommend them. In particular they were very cognizant of the tides and of avoiding the day boats on the big ticket sites. It's also a very nice boat with great food, etc. My only experience with the Aggressor fleet was the Galapagos Aggressor II and I...

    Best diving sites in November?

I was in Palau last November and I thought the diving was excellent. Warm water, large schools of fish, mantas, etc... https://vimeo.com/55497917

    Where to go in September/October

Between Bali and Palau my impression was that Palau had the more advanced diving (mainly due to currents and depth). Crystal Bay (Bali dive site for Mola Mola) was a little cold and the Mola Mola can be somewhat deep but there wasn't much in the way of currents and it didn't strike me as a...

SOCORROS LIVE ABOARD , When is the best time of year, and which company ?

I went on the Nautilus Explorer twice and would recommend them. The Solmar V, Rocio del Mar and Nautilus Explorer all seem to get consistently good reviews. If I were to go a third time (and I probably will) I would go in April for the Humpbacks (and of course the Mantas - but they're always there).

Good point. Save Saba for later.

    recommended dive islands

As previously mentioned Saba is a good option from Toronto. Your best bet is probably Toronto to St. Martin via WestJet and then on to Saba via Winnair.

    Diving in Cambodia?

Thailand is generally considered to have much better diving. If you're in Cambodia and you want to dive you might try Sihanoukville (I was in Cambodia but didn't dive there - I went to Thailand to dive). You'll find lots of information in the Asia forum.

    Palau Siren

I was on the Palau Siren a few weeks ago and highly recommend it. The boat, crew, food and diving were all excellent. In particular they did a good job of getting us to the more popular spots when the animals were there but the day boats were not. I think they market the Siren fleet as luxury at...

    Manta ray experience

Socorro was my first thought but I don't think any of the liveaboards go there in September (at least I don't think the Nautilus Explorer and Solmar V do). I saw Mantas at Manta Point, Bali in September of last year. It's crowded and the visibility isn't great but they're there. You can also...

Define How Challenging is Cocos Island

I dove Cocos with two people who each had done about 40 dives - one was fine and the other ended up skipping many of the dives. I think you're right to postpone your trip as you'll enjoy it more with more experience. Prime season in Cocos is July and August but I went in April and thought it was...

    Belize or Honduras ... plus?

I looked into this a while back (I ended up choosing Belize) and a rough consensus seemed to be that the inner atolls had better diving than Honduras while the diving around Ambergris Key, etc. was not as good. I was there during Whale Shark season and to me that is a very strong reason to...

Best Place to Dive in Costa Rica?

Cocos Island is considered the best diving in Costa Rica, but the only way to dive it is via (expensive) 8-10 day liveaboard (from CR the options are Aggressor/Peter Hughes & Undersea Hunter Group). If Cocos is not an option the next question is Pacific vs Caribbean diving (note that CR is known...

3 dives on bucket list..where to first

I voted Sipadan. As others have pointed out you'll enjoy Galapagos more after you get more experience. I haven't been to Sharm el Shiek.

Best diving spots in SE Asia

Of these countries Thailand has the best diving. Assuming you'll be in season (Oct-May?) I also recommend a 3-4 day liveaboard to the Similan Islands (with Surin Islands, Richelieu Rock, etc).
