I was trained how to drop my weights as well as my buddies. We practiced with pocket weights and belt. We also practiced switching weights with our buddies.
Reasons to drop were if you had an emergency with buoyancy issues or if you had an emergency situation at the surface such as an injury...
Please share your funny SCUBA stories and oops moments.
I was once met at the end of the dock by an angry fellow accusing me of being a POS theif... I wounder if the fact that I had mistakenly grabbed his gear bag instead of mine had anything to do with it? :eyebrow:
:dork2:
I went to 1 day of class left there went to my LDS and purchased all my gear. I was instantly in Love with SCUBA. I would rather have my own gear that I know everything about then renting gear even if I dove 3 times a year but that is just me.
As far as gear that wears out, for me it is...
I buy my SCUBA bags from walmart. They are not called SCUBA bags of course but for $25 you can get a perfect dive bag vs $200 that some of the SCUBA CO's charge for the same thing.

Well I was referred to a dive shop in NC called RUM RUNNER DIVE SHOP. They hooked me up with a package deal. It was $300 more than Internet pricing but the guy (Andrew) was very helpful and pleasant so it did not bother me to spend the extra. Just goes to show customer service WILL override...

I found what I THINK is a good deal on a galileo sol. It is 2 years old and has 45 dives on it. He sent pics and the only "damage" is a scratch on the screen protector which is a replaceable part from what I understand. The unit comes with the transmitter, heart monitor and all the other stuff...
It seems this thread has turned into an Internet vs LDS shop. That was not my intent. It is a forum so I am not bitching, but what I am getting at is that LDS have crap customer service. Not all of course but most. I was curious if others seemed to see this same trend and apparently they do. I...
If someone is losing sales to the Internet they either need to work on their price tag or their service.
I can be persuaded to purchase something from a LDS vs the Internet if the LDS has outstanding service. But, If the price is $1500 at the LDS and $900 online.. well I have to purchase...
How did I fail? Is it not ok to ask specific questions? Do I have to walk in acting like a lost puppy dog that needs someone to guide them to get good service?
