Trip Report Grand Turk April 19-25, Blue Water Divers

Interesting that you say that. I have heard it the other way around, that InterCaribbean is preferred due to larger and newer planes. I have flown interCaribbean but never Caicos; I am just metioning what I have heard previously.

    Back inflate BCD

I was with you up this point....Should read "some people on Scubaboard are sort of a BPW crowd"... and explaining why he doesn't want a BPW would just start the usual bickering. Better off not to go there. But yes, it is hard to make a "best" suggestion without knowing what is important to...

Lynx - Continued battery and transmitter issues

FWIW, I have had no issues with battery or transmitter, although I have not yet tried the rechargeable. If you decide to sell, I might be interested in buying one of yours for my dive buddy so feel free to PM me if you wish.

    A thief in the night - - - A long tale

I'm not going to flame you or claim things like this aren't disturbing and wrong. But I have to disagree with your comment above. I suppose you could go to the Bahamas: Police warn of Cable Beach crime. Caribbean News from Nassau Guardian via Caribdaily.com (many more reports, too numerous...

    Cuban food in Coz?

    I. too am very fond of Cuban food and have looked for Cuban restaurants in Coz. I found one place that appeared to be a Cuban restaurant but it was always closed when I went by. I got mixed reports when I inquired of people in the area. Some people said it was closed, some said it was only...

    Shore Diving in Curacao-- Depth?

It does vary significantly, and since it is shore diving, you can largely choose your depth. I suppose some sites require greater depth to fully enjoy them. I was in Curacao a couple months ago. Since my youngest son is only 11, he is limited to 40'. On occasion I would do a deeper dive with...

Any families going to Coz the first week in April?

Thanks for the input, I'll look into Papa Hogs. We wouldn't be going to the Wyndham, so I'm not sure Sand Dollar would work out. Requiembell...I can't imagine if you are going without your kids you want to hang out with ours, do you? Actually, just today some friends decided they were going...

    A1 or Underwater Phantaseas?

Perhaps I should add that as far as I know, UP has two locations. I assume they are the same ownership? Anyway, I am familiar with the South location and have never been in the other.

Any families going to Coz the first week in April?

Actually, that week is the Spring or Easter break for our schools, which is why the kids can go....Not sure who we are diving with yet. We prefer small boats, but cannot afford our "first" choices this time. Maybe Bottom Time, DWM, Blue Angel or Scuba Mau. I need to contact them and see how...

Any families going to Coz the first week in April?

Hi: My wife and I and our two sons (all divers) are going to Cozumel 3/30-4/6. We have one 11 year old and a 15 year old. Having a Jr. diver along can make boat diving a bit challenging due to depth limits, and the kids can get tired of nothing but adult company (and the adults can get tired of...

    A1 or Underwater Phantaseas?

One of my sons and I did our OW classes at UP. My wife and other son did their OW classes at A1. I did my Nitrox class at A1. I have a slight preference for A1 because I think they have a better assortment and slightly better prices on gear and especially those little accessories that I seem...

Hi: My wife and I and our two sons are going to Cozumel 3/30-4/6. We have one 11 year old and a 15 year old. Having a Jr. diver along can make planning boat dives a bit challenging, and the kids can get tired of nothing but adult company. Any other families going at this time who might...

    Saba - be careful

Can't have too many buddies from my perspective. Perhaps we need an investigatory committee. Maybe Citigroup can fly us down in their new jet and write it off as some sort of public service! But that will limit us to 12 people.

    Saba - be careful

Clearly, someone needs to pay for me to go to Saba and investigate this first-hand and report back. Perhaps to enhance the investigatory perspective I should take my kids along; you know to get their take on the issue. Sure, it will be a bit of an imposition, and I will probably need to...

    Saba - be careful

I guess, having heard from both sides, there is little left to say. Further bashing and arguing won't go anywhere good. It seems that there was a mis-communication here and no fraud or deceit. I don't feel like it is my place to tell other people how to live, or how to dive. I do things...

    Saba - be careful

FWIW, my 12 year old's limit is 40'. If I'm his buddy, and I usually am, then that is my limit for that dive and I have to save deep dives for another time. It's all good. We typically shore dive so no one is there to enforce it but us, but that is the PADI limit (I believe) and what I, his...

    RAT Jr. -- Wow!

Not to be argumentative, but the manufacturer describes it as "dunkable" and their other, most "waterproof," lights are good to around 2 meters. I tend to dive just a bit deeper than that.

Another shore diving question-Grand, Little or Brac?

Thanks for the information. I am disappointed at what seems to be a general lack of enthusiasm for the dives there, or at least the shore dives. I guess maybe I will keep looking for a good deal on airfare to Curacao or Bonaire. The diving was fine there, it is mostly a question of getting...

Another shore diving question-Grand, Little or Brac?

My family likes shore diving. We have been to Bonaire and Curacao and would like to check out the Caymans. I realize that the Cayman Islands aren't really known for shore diving, but it looks like I can get substantially better airfare to there at the moment. Any suggestions on which island...

    Bonaire Burglar Stopped

I, for one, am not trying to bash Bonaire; as I said, I enjoy it and will go back. I do not feel unsafe there and simply adapt to the idea that I have to leave nothing in the truck and make sure the condo is locked. I would do that last bit anywhere. I have also traveled a lot and have been...
