What do you want to know?

I (and my wife) flew Thai First Class BKK-FRA and had an awesome experience at BKK airport. Treated like king and queen from the moment we left our taxi at the airport. Someone took care of our luggage, got personal check-in, escort through security, escort to the lounge, set up appointment for the massage in the spa, had order for food in our private room in the lounge. Nice cup of tea after massage... then escort to the airplane.

They come and get you when it is time to board the plane. You walk on the board and they take your carry-ons and stow them for you, escort you to your seat, offer you pre-departure drinks, doors are closing as soon as the last FC passenger steps through the door and we are ready to go (they board business and economy first and FC last).

Food options are awesome as well :)

I used Star Alliance miles to fly First Class (me and my wife). CLT-JFK (US Airways), JFK-ICN (Asiana), ICN-PEK (Air China), PEK-BKK (Thai), BKK-HKT (Thai), HKT-BKK (Thai), BKK-FRA (Thai), FRA-MUC (Lufthansa), MUC-CLT (Lufthansa). We had week in PEK and week in HKT. Did Similan Islands and Phi Phi Islands diving while in HKT.

... it all sounds like a bore and a waste of time. We want world class diving, with an extreme shortage of unctuous, under-trained, dive center assistance.

You can charter your own boat, bring your own divers and basically do your own thing if you want.

Not sure which category of "world-class" you are looking for though. If it's the lots of sharks, walls of fish and pelagic animals kind of class then I'm afraid Thailand is not in it. But if it's the colorful reefs, warm water, often nice visibility, plenty of creatures and chances on schooling fish and pelagics kind of class then we are perhaps in it.

And Thailand got so many other things to do but diving. That's possibly the strongest point for many people who keep coming back.

You should try a Spa treatment. You'd be surprised how nice that is.
Or uhm... are you afraid of soapy water?

Bowmouth,

You could also start mentioning ideal resorts/hotels/dive centres to use in various locations in Thailand - each would warrant 'another good reason' wouldn't it - and it would certainly help guys like myself who fancy trying the Thai diving - but haven't a clue which resort to make arrangements with ?

Cheers

Reason #86: The kids can do a "Bubblemaker" course in the pool, your wife can have a pedicure and manicure and you can have a relaxing Spa treatment and you ALL have a great day.

By spa treatment. Do you mean oil massage / chuckwow? :D

Hi Wantonmien,
I've been living and diving in Thailand for 20 odd years but spend most of my time in Phuket. I have dived and know most dive sites in Thailand very well but I do not have up to date information about (dive-) resorts and Live-aboard vessels in other places than Phuket.
I would like to help you out but don't want to give you any "old" and possibly wrong information about places other than Phuket.
There's a few other regular SB "Thailand" posters who are located in Koh Samui, Koh Tao, Pattaya and Krabi and who may give you (hopefully) good and unbiased updates on (dive-) resorts in those areas.

Reason #88: There are at least 259 known species of nudibranchs to be found in Thai waters and possibly many more (new and undiscovered) species as well.
