On the proof: Dive destinations or charters I've used have asked when the last dive was done, and some ask about total dive count/deepest dive. However, they've always taken my word for it. I've yet to encounter one that asked for a logbook. (And if they did, I'm not sure what I'd do: I log in an Excel spreadsheet and don't get anybody to sign off.)
Yeah, I just wanted to be sure to include that for your consideration.

Should have added "I don't lie to them, but don't know how they'd know I didn't lie to them."

If I have my own gear (not renting) one look at the two low pressure inflator hoses (one for drysuit) usually satisfies them, and may convince them I'm crazy to dive that cold water stuff.

Yeah, I've usually been asked when my last dive was and usually it was last week. No one's ever looked at my paper log book. As for trusting you--I once asked a flight attendant how they know everyone either puts their device in Airline mode or shuts it off -- she said "We don't, we just hope they do".
