I think men with really great chests should do it occasionally just to show off..

Women too. Its the real reason back BC's and BP/W was invented.

nope. WE've dove Saba (CE), Bonaire, Roatan,Curacao, T&C(SD). For us, thats the beauty of warm water (although Roatan wasn't, so much 70's). Also diving w/o, you really learn bouyancy control in a hurry, as you know every touch that occurs, and, so does everyone else!!!
Having said that, here in Nova Scotia, we do wear neoprene, except in Sept, when the water is a balmy 68!!

Come dive the Gulf in August. The water temp is higher than skin temp, you too will be able to experience the freedom.

Is the Gulf in August really warmer than the Andaman Sea (typically about 85° F)? I'm very happy in a 2/3 mm full length in the Andaman.

Last time I dived in Florida (Atlantic side) I wore a 5. I brought a 7 to Hawaii (where I am now waiting for a sinus infection to clear up so that I can dive from Kona, so I'm not entirely sure if it's too much for these waters).

Quero,

welcome to Hawaii! A 7 mm will be good. hope your head clears and you enjoy your dives.

Aloha,

How often do you dive in that roxy little leatherette number with the pink lace up? And how do you feel about the phrase "cleaner wrasse nipping at the family jewels"?

Well not sure how I feel about the cleaner wrass nipping but wiggeling :05: ... And the Black suit I have dove in alot but I do prefer Bikinis

The Gulf often reaches 93° F (human skin temp) and sometimes higher, especially on shallow dives. I've actually gotten over heated while diving in just a swim suit. Come visit in August, we'll do a fossil dive in bath water.

The Gulf is shallower and as a result has more extremes in temperature, getting much colder in the winter (I dive in a 7 mm with a hood), but much warmer in the summer.

In the summer in Florida, if the water temp is above 85 F, I dive with swim trunks and a t-shirt. The t-shirt is for protection from the sun. I burn easily.

I dive without a wetsuit everytime I can. coming from the PNW with water temps in the low 40's water in the mid 70's is very warm. diving without a wetsuit is very nice. I have never really found a reason to need a skin or anything else for abraison reasons or anything else. I am sure there are times when one comes in handy but with good buoyancy control...

all I can tell you is try it and see if you like it.
