What sized swivel-eye bolt snap are people using for their primary reg (to clip it off during SI, etc)? Would the small one here be appropriate (http://www.diveriteexpress.com/hardware/sssnaps.shtml)? Do the DR ones have a SS spring? Which ones are you using? Is this something I can get a lot cheaper at my hardware store? Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

I made a little bungee loop, much like those silcone alternate seond stage holders. It's enough to keep my primary up safe when I set my rig down and any other time when it may dangle.

Before buying some bolt snaps from DRE I asked about the springs and they said all SS. I have had some for about a year with no problems.

You may snap them up locally at a dive shop or marine supply center. Some HW stores also carry them. The prices I've seen were similar but with a better selection online.

As small as you can reliably open and close. You want to avoid a huge-honking-piece-of-steel hanging off the second stage, especially when it's in use.

A too large snap is my worry, that's why I'm looking for advice on what's the "right" size (i.e. big enough to function, but otherwise as small as possible). If anyone has specific recommendations (links appreciated), I'd be very grateful.

A good hardware shop will also carry a selection; just make certain you buy the stainless, not the plated junk with carbon steel springs.

• Securing the long hose to the harness – 1/2” bolt snap

GM, that's the one I originally linked to, so glad to hear you think that's fine. Ben (or anyone else), do you know what measurement the 1/2" is refering to? Clearly not the overall length! Is this the size of the eye?

I find the small Dive Rite boltsnap too small and switched to a medium.

I don't buy bolt snaps from somewhere unless I know the actual SIZE of the bolt snap. "Small, medium, and large" doesn't quite cut it...
