MASS-Diver:
I disagree, while the problem may be easily fixed, it's a HUGE issue. Don't kid yourself - having the right rig is very, very important with regard to DIR diving. No matter how skilled you are if you are diving with an unsafe setup like this one you are NOT DIR. Having a bungeed backup is not a small detail.

That's a good one. Please Pappa, tell me another story.

Seems that DIR is like pornography ...

Noone can accurately define it but we all know it when we see it. :eyebrow:

Well that would explane why the DIR crew can dive with one hand tied behind there back LOL

No, it's because they learn how to do things with one hand only  Two hands generally means you are doing something wrong.

Hey bro, he's the one that posted that having a clipped off octo was not a big problem. What's wrong with what I said, I though I made a good point: even though everyone hears how DIR is not just about the gear, that you do need to have the correct rig or you ain't DIR ?

What's your problem tough guy? It's easy to insult people over the internet huh? This isn't a tech board, I'm so sorry if my respone was to simple you for.

I,m still laughing so hard I wish I was wearing my pee valve. you mean to tell me GUE has a class for one handed divers, I though you did everything with your buddy!!!

NWGratefulDiver:
Well ... the hog rig is a part of the DIR system ... and separating any single part from the system makes what you're doing, by definition "not DIR". I like to wear my light on my right hand. By definition, that makes me as much "not DIR" as the person who's wearing a standard regulator configuration.

But that's not what I hear you saying ...

Donating from the mouth is NOT what makes DIR different from other systems. Every single tech agency out there teaches you to do that ... and most have been doing it since long before DIR was conceived..

... Bob (Grateful Diver)

THIS IS NOT A TECH Board - as far as I know we can talk about recreactional DIR diving here???????

No, I'm telling you that most of the skills can be done with one hand. If they can't it means you are doing something wrong.

An example for you since you're probably not familiar with how they do it. Can you clip off equipment to your shoulder D-rings one handed or do you reach across your body with your second hand to help. If you do, you will surely be flashing your light all over the place. Do it the correct way which is one handed and that is not a problem. Your team will thank you for not flashing wildly about the cave or in their eyes.

Would you like some more examples :06: I can go slower if you like :classic:

Nova, are you still here? Just in time for your second comeuppance, this time from Dan. Hell, in all the days of posting, you could have taken the class and received the lessons first hand in lieu of your diatribes within.

Can a disabled diver get certified thru DIR? If not then this is a disadvantage for the disabled. Discrimination too, kind of like the no smoking rule. Heck I don't even smoke.
