I'm with redhead, I use a sawed off steak knife, the sheath is a permanent fixture of my harness, and a z-knife that is kept on my computers wrist strap. If I lose either, that means I've lost something else that is far more important.

there are permanent waterproof markers that should help... that or buy a pink handled knife.

thank you very much with all of your reply

and for now i have one more question...
how often do you use the sharp edge and the serrated edge?
what kind of knife edge that you use more and why?

yew

Despite being a cave diver and constantly dealing with line, I've never had to use my knife - ever.

There probably aren't a lot of guys losing fishing line in caves.

I use my knife and/or snips quite often. Snips for fishing line, knife to knock barnacles off fossils or to cut trap/anchor line.

On my "steak knife" the sharp edge and the serrated edge are the same. I've had to use my knife to cut monofiliment line several times. I also carry a pair of snips.

what about when the bigger boys try to thieve your gear?
