Is Cozumel experiencing the unprecedented heat wave that is enveloping large swaths of the northern hemisphere?

It’s 86 and ‘feels like’ 101. It’s been cloudy today with sprinkles here and there (we’re at Park Royal but were in Centro for dental work. I don’t know if my feel for it is correct, but it has felt cooler that previous July’s here for me. The water temp on my computer says 83-84, and I’ve been chilled on surface intervals.

Not really a meteorological report. Just personal observations.

It's been 102 to 105 or more nearly every day here in Austin since sometime in May. I've been here since 1981 and I've never seen anything like this.

I was in the Keys last weekend and dreaded coming home to the heat.

Locals are commenting on how hot it seems for july.

104 here in St. Louis today. If I have to put up with sweltering heat and oppressive humidity; I would prefer to have an ocean nearby.

There is nothing "unprecedented" about this heat wave. We have had several mild Summers lately and gotten soft to the heat. 2011 and 2012 were far worse than this.
