Anything else you would like to backpedal on????

What? Me telling you that something is a law is in no way the same as me saying that I always obey laws. I know comprehending the english language can be hard, but there are probably some free online courses you could look into if you need some help.

There are legal alternatives to carrying a knife in Cozumel. Sure they may make the law pointless, but they are still legal. Just because there are exceptions to a law that seem to make it almost pointless, does not mean you get to ignore it.

Actually, that's whats makes it so funny.

I doubt anyone would disagree with the "Why" of the rule <snicker>

But you point out how silly the rule is and the cozonauts come out of the wood work defending it.

Oh well

I guess to them its better to be sheep instead of discussing the issues.

So be it.

A ScubaBoard Staff Message...

Some posts have been removed - lets stay on topic folks. Just a reminder, It's about gloves and knives in Cozumel

Yes, and if you get caught - you get fined or worse!

SAME THING HERE - only it will affect LIVLIHOODS! So the point is that for tourist divers to come down here and feel entitled to disobey the laws and/or berate/disrespect a DM who is doing his JOB is selfish and arrogant! Shops can lose permits which would mean the entire staff being unemployed and/or the DM can lose his Marine Park license and never be able to work in a National Park in Mexico again if he doesn't do his JOB!

How do you put an entire thread on IGNORE???

so is there a place with this info in english, I saw the link DiverSteve posted earlier . . .

I guess I mean is there a gooberment site setup with the rules and regs on it . . . if not, I will find someone to translate the spanish site. . .

Translation result for http://pyucatan.conanp.gob.mx/cozumel.htm

Not all the URL's on the original site work. (so they couldn't be translated).

I saw no mention of "no gloves" or "no knives", but it could have been easily missed by me or the translation website.

thanks Mike, I will have to look from home as the goobernment blocks me from accessing babelfsih from work :shakehead:

I do find it interesting from an observers standpoint how some defend the "law" if it affects their wallets, but not if it does not.

We all "chose" which laws to follow on a daily basis. Most chose not to do the truly "bad" stuff because the idea of living in a concrete 10x10 for the rest of your life sucks. Yet to say that we all "toe the line" when it comes to laws are silly. So is arguing over which trivial ones someone follows and which they do not.

You are free to charter your own boat in Cozumel and dive outside the marine park zone. Then you can strap your on your knife and feel pride in knowing that you beat the system.

Yeah. You da man dawg. Fight the powers that be!
