The Nikon is a good choice, but you should consider a SeaLife camera. These have built in underwater photo settings that will give you the best color and pictures possible.

Just got back from a visit o Grand Cayman to test out a reconditioned Olympus TG-1 I recently picked-up. While the visibility was pretty crappy for local standards all week, it gave me a good chance to put the TG-1 through its paces. I will say I really was impressed with the results and the camera in general. The f2 lens was great in the cloudy conditions I had most snorkels and being able to keep the ISO settings low and still capture moving marine life was great. I also prefer the center body position of the lens (like on my old Canon D10) as compared to the upper right hand positioning as on many of the recent crop of point & shoots (helps with ease of framing the shot and eliminates any extraneous fingers ruining shots).

Here are links to some results:

^ did you do any post production to those??

Just free stuff. Google's Picasa and the "I'm Feeling Lucky" filter usually does the trick for me. One set from above was also run through Photscape's auto level filters to see if there was any improvement. It was a slight enhancement, but not worth the enlarged file size it creates.

Ok lol. WHEW! I was about to toss my $1100 set up in da trash of you had said no! Great pics man. I use aperture mainly for PP. I find it super easy and love that it catalogues all the photos. LOVE your grey angel. I got a shot of a BBBIIIGGG French angel on a boat trip over by Jost Van Dyke a couple weeks ago. I had to dive to about 35 ft for the pic. A bit much for me lol but still got some blue color in the shot. He was tricky too dodging me in and out of sea fans lol and I was running outa air. HA!
