devolution,
The top pic is what my ring looks like except there is a band with 13 channel set diamonds where your diamond sits. I have broken the end that holds your diamond off twice and bent it to a vertical position twice so without the channel setting I would have lost the stone on a ring like yours. My channel is white gold and the "leaves" are yellow gold.

In case anyone hasn't figured it out yet I'm a complete goofball
Ber :lilbunny:

Yeah, gold's such a soft metal... Not good for someone who beats up their hands. That's why I went with titanium. Well, that and the fact that' it's cheap and doesn't scratch easily...

The one downside to tension rings is the fact that every guy who asks to see it (off my finger) tries to pull it apart! :11:

Your 40...i guess thats an ok age to take the plunge...on your deathbed may be a even better time, but atleast your not in your 20's....lol

Don't spend too much time on the details....just cut to the chase....say, hey come with me to the store. I am getting you an engagement ring and I want to get this over with...so you'll try on a few rings and we'll decide on what I like the most.

And tell her not to get all excited and start planning crap, because weddings are a waste of time and $$$..tell her you'll take her on a nice diving trip in warm water so you can wed underwater......that way you dont have to listen to her. And make sure this doesnt intefer with any vacations you may have planned with the boys...like a nice Vegas trip or something..or any more significant sporting event like the National Spelling Bee or the 8-10 yr old Marble Championships on ESPN.

Hope this helps.

Almightywife

I am nice and single...and the guy thing hasn't worked out so well for me so....are your single g/f's cute? I mean..they need to be intelligent and funny also...

and Wildcard.....don't ruin an absoluely perfect g/f....lol Seriously, my best to you and if you are sincere and honest...no matter what you get, how you do it and if its a secret or not....it won't matter. I am sure you got the measurement by now...or made your plan. Just remember....plan a marriage...not a wedding :)

Sandy... if the guy thing in the past is a SB person that both of us know - then i dont blame you for changing sides :)

now as far as the guy thing in the past not working out - you need to come on down here baby!!! i also know alot of nice single fun guys i can introduce you to...... hooked a female newbie up with a fellow diver a few weeks before christmas and so far so good!

Take her to any touristy area with handmade/cheap jewelry stores where inexpensive rings are in open display cases, and pop into one with her while window shopping.
If she's anything like my wife, she'll start trying things on, and you can see what fits her.

Personally, I was able to deflect suspicion by playing on my interest in scrimshaw.

This one's easy -

Drop a tank or weightbelt on the hand where you don't want the ring = then use a caliper to compare the size of the swollen digits to the unswollen, future ring finger...

Why do you need a woman to come up with that?
