My wife got her lost camera and strobe back a few years ago thanks to contact info on the memory card and an honest fellow diver. I hope you have the same experience.
 
I would have changed out the tank and gone in after it for you....assuming this was the first dive.
 
Jorge felt we had drifted well past where it might be due to the divers re boarding the boat & I tend to agree. It was a gentle current but the boat was moving along enough to know it would be a crap shoot guessing where to start plus we still had other divers down who may have recovered it.
