PS. Pilotfish - Camel Hotel, bar and Diving Centre is in fact next to Pacha - the best night club I saw.

As usual, you are very helpful. Is Pacha bay or resort area?

Pacha is a night club located in the "new centre" of Sharm called -Naama Bay.
If you want to know how it looks like you can have a look here:
http://www.pachasharm.com/ - go to the gallery and check photos from New Year Eve Party....
Anyway there are two places i go in Sharm in the evenings - first couple of drinks in Camel Bar, then drinks at the Bus Stop and then dancing in Pacha.

I guess the the big considerations for me would be how close to dive boat, whether you are picked up at hotel, as in Saba, and how comfortable and clean hotel is. Not interested in dico clubs and night life. Do they have safe gear storage and good rinse tanks in Sharm?

You can walk to the marina in Sharm in a couple of minutes from most hotels. Your dive operator will store your gear securely and deliver it to the boat each morning. Don't be concerned at all about your equipment being stolen...crime in Egypt is very, very low. As to the hotels cleanliness...well, I can only address Camel, but the rooms and all common areas were spotless. I think this would be the norm in an area which relies exclusively on tourism. I understand your concerns, and I applaud you for considering a trip to Egypt. These days, most Americans are afraid to travel to '"exotic" locations. I hope you'll go see for yourself. You will have a wonderful time!

p.s. to Mania Flight leaves Sunday! Pack your gear!

Thanks for your help, Phil. How is it diving in El Lat Israel? Someone mentioned that as a place that is as good but safer. I have no clue.

pilot fish - every dive op in Egypt pick its guests from whatever hotel they are staying. Gear is stored on the boat so you don't have to carry it every day. It's absolutly safe there.
Just go there - you will not regret it!!!!!
Phil have o good time!!!!

Thanks Mania and Pilot Fish! I can't wait! Just hope there are still sharks around Elphinstone since I'm going at the wrong time of year.

All the best,

Phil

Well, they may be gone as it's probably too cold for them. But you never know - I wish you lack.

Good evening. Are you in Poland now?

Do they have rinse tanks, or do they just spray it with a hose as they do in Saba, Caribbean? Do you know anything about Elat, Israel diving, which is also on the Red Sea?

Yeah unfortunately I'm back home. I'm not sure about rinsing tanks - I don't check it either see it. Tanks belong to the diving centre, they are brought by the staff to the boat and then taken for refilling. Why is it so important?

As for diving in Eilat - here are some threads:

I can't be much of a help in this topic. I've been to eilat ages ago when i was not diving and there was no war between Israelis and Palestinians.
If you want to go to Israel read also this thread:
