Congratulations. I did mine in about the same time span from OW (minus the exotic places). I had completed the specialties required so my 50th dive made it official. Ironically, I was buddying with someone who just got their MSD. After that the only specialty cert. I added was Deep Diver--figured this was very practical for charters. Can't see doing any more specialties as what I've got more than covers any diving I'll ever do (besides maybe Drift Diver, should I ever be in that situation--there seems to be a number of things there that are quite different from regular dives). Don't want to be any more of a "card collector" as they say, but it is nice to have goals, especially if you're retired.

Congrats!
I feel the excitement as I recently reached that milestone myself after getting certified 9/2011. But somehow I still feel there are still things to learn and this is what is great about diving: exploration. And the more you want to explore the more training you need. Good luck, stay safe, and have lots of fun out there!

Congratulations!

Having just completed my 5th specialty (night diving cert) this past weekend I have now reached the title of PADI Master Scuba Diver!!! This has always been a goal of mine since sitting in my OW class looking at the poster for the various levels you can get to (without becoming an instructor). Feels like only yesterday I was here blogging about my OW class experience and making more mistakes than I care to admit to. I have come a long way in my diving life!

This has taken 2 years for me to accomplish and has taken me to some pretty exotic places on this planet. I love diving and my next goal is to take the NAUI Master Diver course as well and then explore even more specialties such as ice diving, wreck, and maybe cavern diving. So glad I decided to do a couple of DSDs back in 2009 when I was in the Whitsundays in Australia. It has changed my life so much. I own all my own gear now and have no plans to stop anytime soon. :cool2:

Congratulations !
I've got my MSD SSI certification last year and those of us that are certified understand how proud we feel.

Thanks everyone! :cool2: :D

congratulations! I too got my start in diving with a couple of DSDs in the Whitsundays

Not a bad place to get your first taste eh? Which outfit did you do yours with? I went on Cruise Whitsundays nice big catamaran out to Knuckle Reef on their pontoon at the outer Great Barrier Reef!

Coming from Lethbridge, it's not an easy thing to do. Great job!
Isn't that the truth!!!!! A handful of dives were done locally but the majority were all in the ocean on Vancouver Island, Australia and the Caribbean

Congratulations !

You know it! Very happy to have reached this. Now it's time to do some more diving!!!!

Congrats! Nice to have people like you and your enthusiasm for the sport!

My dive buddy just got his and I've just held off on the paperwork since I'm working towards my Divemaster.

Maybe I'll put through the paperwork.

Out of curiosity, what specialties did you go for?

Coming from Lethbridge or getting Master Diver?
LMAO!!!

Out of curiosity, what specialties did you go for?
Nitrox, Shark Diver (from Australia), Dry Suit, Altitude, Night

I have Deep, Enriched Air Nitrox and Sidemount now. Planning to go for Night Diver and perhaps Cavern diver if I can find a suitable instructor / training ground which in my part (Kota Kinabalu, Sabah) is going to be tough. Maybe sit down with a specialty instructor and go through the Peak Performance Buoyancy course theory to see whether there's anything else which I cannot pick up on my own.

By the way, how much does it cost for the extra certification over at your side(s) because for us in the Asia Pacific region, it's free until the end of this year?
