i see comments about "using care" with ammonia and framless masks. What kind of care? I don't hardly see how you could apply ammonia to the glass without letting it touch the seal and silicone.

I have some cerium oxide meant for polishing glass. I bought it when I had an accident that ended up with a scratch in the windshield of my then brand new car. I recon a light hand polish with that stuff would likely remove anything on a mask lens. Anybody ever tried it?

I flamed my clear masks, but knew not to do that to my mirrored mask. It just got Dawn dish soaped before the trip. And that worked fine.

The trick with defog, is to not rinse it all off. One quick dunk only. Sometimes I use seagold gel, sometimes baby shampoo.

This really seems mask dependent. I have a Hollis M1 and an Apeks VX1. Did the same prep on both. The VX1 doesn't fog at all. The M1 stills fogs.
