Is is required to have GUE-approved (DIR?) gear in order to take DIRF, or can more common, recreational-style gear set-ups be used?

As far as I know, the only thing "required" is a long primary hose. Although you can use a "regular" BC, it will not be easy to do the skills with it. If you can get ahold of a BP and wings, it will make your class much more meaningful- notice that I didn't say "easy"!!

Most of all, enjoy the class, and ask lots of questions. The instructors are great people and wonderful teachers.
