Just returned from a trip to Egypt and checked out the canyon that runs alongside Thomas Reef in the Straits of Tiran. The canyon drops to a maximum depth of 92m.
We did two dives into the canyon, the first to 50m on air, the second to 65m on 18/40. Both dives used EANx 50 & 80 as deco gasses.
Using twin 11.2 litres, bottom time for the 65m was 16 minutes, with a run time of 51 mins.
The canyon lip is at 40m and the view looking back up to the lip of it from inside the canyon is awesome.
There are some archways along the length of the canyon and a swim through at 65m going up to 58m.
I haven't got round to editing video we shot there, but the below clip was shot by the PURE team, operating out of Red Sea College.
Thanks to Paul, Sherif and Christian.
