US Passport renewal time

Ok I called the State Department to check the status of my passport renewal at
1-877-487-2778. They told me my passport was scheduled to be done Mar. 8th.
I told them I was leaving Mar. 4-5. They said they could switch my processing to expedited service and took my credit card info. I will now get my passport in time for sure. Thank goodness I checked the status.

huh, you sent it in 4 weeks ago and its "scheduled to be done Mar 8th"!!!

Are you sure the conversation didn't go like this?

SD: So, when are you leaving?

You: March 4/5?

SD: Hmm. We see you're scheduled for processing on March 8. Would you like to upgrade to expedited service? That way, your passport will get to you before you get to the airport. We take Visa, MC, Amex, ... But wait! You also get a toaster. And, it slices, it dices, and turns your BCD into a BP&W with a long hose!
