Here are some photos taken today (4/10/08) from approximately 12PM to 2:30PM. Location was Service Club Park just south of the Venice public beach. I'd guesstimate 15'-18' average, with the occasional down to 10' or up to 25'. The fish was my escort for the afternoon. Temp was 75 at 24' and 81 at the surface with a dive time of 161 minutes. This was the first time the Canon had been underwater and I didn't flood it.. (yeah!) All photos taken at 21'-24' depth except the fin/flag line shot.

Nice lookin' tour guide there.

Nancy and I (MaryAnn too if we can get her to drive over) are planning to dive Venice on Saturday and also drop by the Shark Tooth Festival.

Sand Tiger, actually . And is that a hemi in the first pic?

Great pics!

Couldn't tell you - the only teeth I know are Megs, Sand Tigers, and possibly a Mako... And "Hello!" to Walter, MissD, and ReefGuy, haven't communicated with you folks in a while..

And thank you... The way the original post was written it sounded like I've flooded my Canon camera every time I've had it in the water... What I meant to say was a) it was the first time I've had it in the water and b) it didn't flood. Photos were color corrected using the "Adjustments > Auto-Level" feature of the free "Paint.NET" graphics program (I didn't use a flash or strobe so the colors were quite washed out).

I've rather drifted from the original "Venice VIS" topic of the thread but since this info could possibly help people more accurately demonstrate the visibility at Venice using photos it remotely applies.. <grin>

Here's the original fish picture along with the "fixed" after the above 1-click fix in Paint.NET:

Well, I'm glad you got it to stay dry this time... I think I'd give up photography if my Canon camera flooded every time I've had it in the water... :shakehead:
