Here are some photos taken today (4/10/08) from approximately 12PM to 2:30PM. Location was Service Club Park just south of the Venice public beach. I'd guesstimate 15'-18' average, with the occasional down to 10' or up to 25'. The fish was my escort for the afternoon. Temp was 75 at 24' and 81 at the surface with a dive time of 161 minutes. This was the first time the Canon had been underwater and I didn't flood it.. (yeah!) All photos taken at 21'-24' depth except the fin/flag line shot.

Did I read this right? 161 minutes of dive time? What size tank or tanks are you using? If you are getting 161 minutes out of a AL80 I need to do some work on my SAC rate..... Nice pics by the way and thanks for the update.

Let's see, 120 is two hours, 160 is 2 hours 40 min... I'm guessing 100s

My longest bottom time to date: 4 1/2 hours on a HP149... I surfaced because I was hungry. I went back and finished off the bottle (1 more hour) after a break at Sonny's ...

Sure... quote me when I'm drinking... I'll remember that, bub...

:D

Here's the possible hemi:

CoolTech's guess was correct, tank is a PST E7-100. I usually get around 180-205 minutes at Venice, but yesterdays dive was my first with the underwater camera and was busy exploring around for things to take photos of.. By best is 246 minutes out of this tank, exiting at 316psi (disclaimer: only ran it that low for this duration test, usually exit around 550-700psi)..

According to the Vytec my SAC at Venice is around .25 to .28. Hit .23 a few times.

Not sure what equipment configuration you have - mine is VERY low profile as at Venice I'll often dive a $39 plastic pack-pack thingy with just the tank attached or else a Deep Sea Supply BP/Wing which is also low profile and usually no exposure suit, just swimtrunks and t-shirt as in avatar. Fins for example can also make a large difference - ie if I switch to my Jet Fins or OMS SlipStreams I use at least 30% more gas compared to the Atomic Splits, covering similar distances. There are situations where the other fins are more beneficial, which is why I own both styles.

On topic: Heading out to the Boneyard on a 6-pack charter today and might do a shore dive afterward, so I should have another Venice Vis update this evening.

If I might ask, what is the fish is 7529 and 7530 called? Ever since I was viciously attacked through an entire 2:47 tooth dive, I've wondered what those little demons were.

(They provided endless entertainment to my dive buddy, who was never even approached by them. She laughed at me the entire dive, as the little buggers nipped at my face, ears, fingers,...)

Sand Perch. Usually, when they're around I'm finding teeth. I love those guys!
