Im heading to SEA and am wondering how easy it is to extend the 30 day visa granted on arrival? and does anyone know how easy it is to pick up DM work? Cheers

Hello buddhasummer,

A visa on arrival is to extend to another month. It will cost u $30 and u will have to go to immigration 1 week before it expires.

Working as a DM is hard. Mostly the diveshops have indonesian guides, only during ramandan u will have 1 month the chance to work. Its better to think to become an instructor if u want to work in Indonesia. Most of the live aboards prefer instructors and there are many dive shops in Indonesia at this moment. If u are interested in doing an instructor course send me a pm or visit: http://www.indonesia.idc.com.

Its all how long u want to stay in Indonesia:

1) if u want to stay less then 2 months, there are 2 options:

Come in Indonesia with a Visa on arrival, u can extend this one for another month, costs $30 for extension.

Come in Indonesia with a tourist visa of 2 months (60days), in between our stay in Indonesia u dont have to visit immigration.

2) If u want to stay more than 2 months.
u need a social visa, a sponsor will write u a letter that u need to get the social visa. After 2 months this visa has to extend every month.

Officially with all these visa u are not allowed to work in Indonesia.
