So when your car has a flat tire you start checking the engine first. Right.

If there is an unexplained issue with ANY part of the vehicle and the issues gets to the manufacturer and the manufacturer wants the whole system, the vehicle, to be inspected by their experts, then you have to go with their experts' opinion and request. The analogy here isn't entirely accurate or relevant however. With scuba regulators, several issues with second stage performance are related to issues with the first stage and hence you have to start your troubleshooting with the entire system and not just a microscopic view. What AL experts demanded is very prudent and most likely save lots of going back and forth with unnecessary delays and shipping charges.

Except that there is no mysterious performance issue. It’s a broken piece on the air barrel of the 2nd stage. However, if you have never dealt with any equipment more complicated than a Scuba reg, I can understand your sentiment.

Definitely do your own double check of the area around the MBS knob for any other possible damage or cracks.
From the way that part is broken, if it is from stress while assembled it looks like the force would have been straight downward on the top of the MBS. If that happened and nothing else is broken, you are getting off easy. Once assembled, I would find it easier to imagine that happening by something like putting a tank down on the 2nd stage, than by a single sharp blow. Double check the rest of the body also, as whatever force held the body in place while that part was bent may have damaged something else further away from that lever point.

I believe Becky did a week long mixed CCR/OC trip out of Presque Isle with Jitka / Molly V last summer (2018). So it occasionally happens - but still the 160-200ft wrecks in that area. With the price of helium sky high, I doubt she could book an OC trip nowadays.

Yeah, sure, that's it, you nailed it. Let's move on now that you have figured it out.

You’re mixing OC and recreational. I said I doubt Becky does REC trips. And it seems that is the case.

I forget, she advertises on facebook mostly and that trip is way dated now. You could ask but pricewise you are probably better off just hiring a boat for a long weekend with your friends.

I have no trouble organizing a six pack for a long weekend. I’ve done that several times.

The whole confusion comes from you asking if I was on a trip with Becky and I said no, and I also doubt she does RECREATIONAL trips. I am not tech certified (yet), so why would I be on a trip with someone who only does tech stuff? I’m done.
