It is great for white balancing. Beats taking a grey card!
 
Been eyeing this, but I'm worried it's a bit over the top compared to the rest of my gear...

Black was not the only mid-twentieth-century diving equipment colour available if the 1959 US Divers ad above is anything to go by.

I have a similar solid-yellow outfit in my vintage diving gear collection:

The fins are Champion Hydrodynamic closed-heels carried by US Divers and the suit is a yellow "Golden Tiger" So-Lo Marx Skooba-"totes" two-piece drysuit dating from the early 1960s. While snorkelling in the cold waters of the North Sea several years ago, this very suit kept me perfectly warm and dry after I donned, vented and sealed it, while the same fins supplied all the comfort, power and manoeuvrability I needed.
