I'll confess I didn't read all thirty seven pages of this post, do I would be surprised if I were the only poster that did mine in Devil's Lake, Wisconsin.

Mine was in a lake in Wesel, Germany called the "Ausee". Visability was absolute zero. I held on to my instructor's tank. We dove to a whopping 30 feet for approximately 40 minutes. I was hooked. It's only gotten better since.

hello all,

mine was in tiran strains, Red Sea, three years ago and i was there again last month.. wonderful place

Lake Murray Oklahoma in 1971.

Mine was in a fresh water lake during 1957 in upstate NY. Lots of fish, old logs on the bottem from late 19th century logging operations. The thermocline was at about 30 ft, and since we had heard about dry suits and wet suits, but had never seen any of them, we stayed above that depth. Dove those lakes all summer and finally got in the St Lawerence late in the summer. I have dove the St Lawerence since, but not the lakes. I still have the old two hose, two stage, Mike Nelson style regulator.

Sure was a fun summer.

Cozumel, shore dive in front of Blue Caribe

My cert dive was at this tiny little like in Pittsfield, MA. My first real dive after that though was actually at the Great Barrier Reef off of Port Douglas, QLD. It was freaking amazing.
