Easy to say on the Internet....Only way to have it mean anything is a demo in person.

Come to Coz in July and I will be glad to show you. Don't worry, I will go slow so you can keep up! :D

My money's on danvolker even he's wearing WalMart snorkel "flippers". I've seen his legs :)

Just silly, please..... split fins....:shakehead:

danvolker,

So tell us about the "real demo" that you did. Was it a blind study? Did you have a control group? Can you send us the stats/graphs to back up your outrageous claims?

It's not about me...or what I did. It's about all the split fin divers that never tried jets or Force Fins or Freedive fins, or if they did, they never had anyone show them the proper technique.

What is outrageous, is how badly so many split fins divers dive....Sure there are good divers that use split fins.....my post was not to indicate that splits make you a bad diver....my indication is that if THOUSANDS OF SPLIT FIN WEARERS tried demos of the other fins, with some instruction on technique, I expect many hundred would want to sell their splits and switch.

Geez folks. This can't be that hard. Has anyone performed an objective study of these fins? I don't mean Dan swimming against a ten year old.

Ron, it does not take a study....there have been too many bogus studies already by print magazines.

It takes divers deciding to demo fins and other gear themselves. The differences can be dramatic. I honestly can't understand why some divers are fighting this DEMO idea so much....it's like they are terrified to find out they might like something that they did not buy, much better....then, my god, they would have been wrong....I hope this is not the reason!

What you're saying is that subjective belief trumps objective data.

Objective tests would be worthless for fins....there are too many different skill sets, too many different leg legths which cause different leverage and angles for the blades, too many different strength ranges in quadriceps, in hip muscles, in calves, and too many variables in general, for some geeks to attempt a nice clean test.

Moreover, in sports like skiing, the value has already been proven for doing a DEMO.

So why don't you think divers have a right to find out for themselves, what the best fin for their use would be? Why should they rely on some "authority" for this? Clearly, there will never be any authority on what the best fins are...there will never be a good test that comes anywhere near what a Demo can do for an individual diver.
