    BPW wing pics

Ironically, I was on Bonaire at the same time you were and was doing my first dives on my new bp/w setup too. After a little bit of tweaking I loved what it did for my trim. I ended up w/ 2 lbs in trim pockets on my tank band and nothing on my belt. For tropical diving I used one of the 18#...

    Mask Strap

I'd also like to mention that I've had much better luck w/ the style where the straps velco directly to the neoprene backing (http://www.diveriteexpress.com/fins/slapstrap.shtml) vs. attaching using a buckle or slide. I've had the latter come loose underwater, expecially if removing and...

    what's under there?

Yep, Speedo jammers on the bottom, UnderArmor on the top. Makes those wetsuits slide on much easier and helps to avoid any embarrassing social faux paus. Works well for me.

Diving off a 3 person jetski?

Ouch. Hope everything works out w/ both your son and the ski. As far as water tightness, not so much. If they turn over momentarily, the air trapped in the motor compartment will usually keep them from completely flooding. If the motor compartment does get flooded, it's not gonna start and you...

Diving off a 3 person jetski?

Hehe, you really don't want to try to anchor your ski in anything other than calm water. At speed, jetski's are very stable. At rest, they're very easy to tip over. If you want a jetski for watersports, they're a whole lot of fun, but while you could use it as a dive platform in very specific...

Diving off a 3 person jetski?

Um ... no. I have a couple jet skis. They are not in any way suitable as a dive platform for any type of diving in any type of condtions. Period. Trust me on that one ;) Also, re: the kayak, unless you only go straight on perfectly calm water, you will capsize :)

    Best trip for new divers?

I'm not sure it fits well w/ the $ factor, but Bonaire is perfect for the beginner. It allows you to do a bunch of dives in a short period of time w/ easy conditions (oh, and the reefs aren't bad either ;) ). The biggest thing a beginner needs is more time in the water, and Bonaire is perfect...

    A Couple SDM2.1.3 Bugs

Another bug is that if you have a single quote in some of the text fields, such as location or dive site, it generates an error. Seems someone isn't pre-parsing their SQL statements. You can get around this by using two single-quotes in a row (which is a SQL escape sequence).

    St John and St Thomas

hehe, I love staying at Gallow's Point. Unit #3 if you can get it. It has the most incredible sunsets. It's also nice 'cause it's about 50 yards from Cruz Bay. I never rent a vehicle when I'm there. http://www.gallowspointresort.com/virtual_plan.shtml

    St John and St Thomas

Mike_S you beat me to it about the downtown ferry. I actually much prefer taking that one over Red Hook if I can catch it in time. After the long flight down, that last thing I want to do is sit in a stuffy cab/van travelling to Red Hook to catch the ferry there. Even if it take slightly longer...

Assault at 60 feet below in Mexico

Wow, call me naive but I'm blown away by this. As if sexual assault in and of itself isn't dispicable enough, compounding that w/ a startled/paniced or otherwise compromised diver at depth is just beyond my comprehension. I hope that being expelled from PADI is the least of what happens to...

DIY "Deluxe" Oxygen Analyzer: cool idea or stupid overkill?

Thanks alot cfelliot. That like is very much along the lines I was thinking. Good stuff.

DIY "Deluxe" Oxygen Analyzer: cool idea or stupid overkill?

Thanks Charlie for the clarification. It does however, raise another question in my mind. Maybe I'm nuts, but it's my understanding that electo-o2 sensors work by measuring the number of oxygen molecules that react w/ the sensor. Obviously this is going to be dependent on density which seems to...

DIY "Deluxe" Oxygen Analyzer: cool idea or stupid overkill?

Thanks Fred, My idea w/ the humidity/temperature compensation comes from a chart I've seen that comes from ANALOX. According to the chart, the % atmospheric o2 varies depending on temp/humidity from 20.9 to 18.5. They seem to be suggesting that you can calibrate w/o using a pressurized air...

DIY "Deluxe" Oxygen Analyzer: cool idea or stupid overkill?

Thanks MASS-Diver. I've actually seen that one as part of my research. Those plans along w/ some others I've seen are what got me to wondering in the first place. They seem to be simple devices: basically you're measuring voltage across the o2 probe and scaling that using variable resistance to...

DIY "Deluxe" Oxygen Analyzer: cool idea or stupid overkill?

I want to get some opinions on a crazy idea I’ve come up w/. I'm planning on taking a Nitrox course soon and after doing some research it seems like it would be a very good idea to have an O2 analyzer of my own. After researching many of the commercial offerrings I’ve come to the conclusion...

    What Keeps You Motivated

hehe, I know what you mean about the cheat thing. I don't have a defined cheat schedule, but when I do have something really fattening, I find myself trying to calculate how many workouts it's gonna take to make up for it. This "usually" results in eating a much smaller portion or skipping it...

    What Keeps You Motivated

Man, Greg, I know where you're coming from. I messed around w/ it for a couple years, starting and stopping, before I really got back on the bandwagon. I know a few things that helped me, but they were specific to my situation and may or may not have any relevence for you. For me, getting back...

    What Keeps You Motivated

Good job on the workout gt! If I can make one small suggestion for what it's worth (ie disregard if it's not welcome ;) ) there's no way most of us should be doing 5-6 sets of any weight training exercise. Do 2-3 sets max 8-10 reps. If you do more sets or reps than that, you're simply not using...
