    Help with a DEPP Claim

Hi Duke, Did you have any luck with this claim? I've heard a few cases of this recently, and I'm seriously doubting whether to insure with DEPP again. Ryan.

    Aquatica 40/50D housing

A great review, and one that I can agree with personally. I've had my Aquatica housing for a good few months now and am very happy with it :)

    Ikelite G10 Housing

I also had the same issue with my G7 Ike housing a few years ago. The buttons that were all close together were fine, but the on-off button rarely lined up, and either did the wheel on the back of the housing. I sent it back for them to fix it, which they managed to do about 50% of. It was a...

Things which I wished Ikelite made

Heya Mark, You know, my housing/strobes cover most of the things you mentioned there! I'll let you have a play with it when I come down for a dive! As Tienuts said, Ike have their market set being cost effective, which is ovbiously working well for them. Would you be willing to pay more...

These often pop up in the Wetpixel Classifides, might be worth keeping an eye on.

    Canon G10 Housing Question

Sorry, wasn't having a go at you in the least! In fact I was only agreeing that it's a huge investment to spend so much for it to only be used a few times a year.

    Canon G10 Housing Question

Ah, a holiday diver, enough said ;) Can't say I blame you then! I try to dive most weekends here! On the other hand though, the resale value on camera gear isn't too bad for the upper end stuff. I sold my G7/Ike kit recently, and got about 60% of what I originally paid. So there's a good...

    Canon G10 Housing Question

Belive me, that's not a lot of money to spend on UW camera gear when you look at some of the alternatives! If my current housing only cost $1k, I'd be a very happy diver ;)

    Canon G10 Housing Question

I wouldn't say that 24mm/85° is overly wide! If I was looking to purchase a top end point and shoot right now, I'd be forgetting the G10 and grabbing a G9 while there's still some available, and having a very good look at the Patima housing (as much as I loved my old Ike housing, these look...

    A720 discontinued...still buy it?

And neither of these models allow you to add wet lenses (actually, I don't know if they're even offering a housing for the A590 are they? And does it have those bloody oval ports?). I can't see a good answer to underwater photography at all in Canon's new compact camera line up. Ryan.

    Canon G9 - Macro & Ikelite housing

Both the 165 and 330 say that "high magnification close-up photography possible by shortening the close focus distance, allowing the photographer to get closer to the subject", so that doesn't really explain the difference is (that's from Inon America by the way, not Inon themselves). But...

    Canon G9 - Macro & Ikelite housing

Inon make 2 different macro lenses, a 165mm and a 330mm. I always thought the 330 allowed you to take images from further away, but I may be mistaken??? The other option would be to use the camer's zoom to increase your focal length. Of course this would be going against the golden rule of...

    Canon G10 Housing Question

For that reason alone, I'd say the G9/Ikelite setup is better than the G10. Could see this happening though. The 28mm lens (I'm guessing) is causing too much vignetting? Plus, I don't know of any wet WA lenses that work on a 28mm lens (and have a 67mm thread). I had the G7 for a few years...

    Buying scuba gear in Oz

Well, seeing you're plugging the store you work at on a public forum, I'm going to do the opposite... The above mentioned store has to be the most expensive in Brisbane, both for buying gear, and doing trips/courses. It's one of those places where you walk in, and the only thing they care...

Guess What Came In The Mail TODAY????

I'm interested to see if Ikelite make it possible to add a WA lens to the G10, or if Inon, etc release one that will work. The current 67mm lens from Inon is made for a 35mm lens, yet the G10 had a 28mm lens... I have been told that Inon make a AD lens for 28mm cameras, but of course this is...

A570IS & Ikelite housing -- buttons not lining up?

I had the same problems with my G7 Ikelite housing. Sent it back to be fixed at one point (which from Australia is a pain, I was without my housing for months during summer!!!). Afterwards, the problem buttons worked 90% of the time, but was still be no means perfect. Recently upgraded...

    G9 strobe choice opinion needed

From what I've seen, FL seems to have some great diving (not that I've been to the US yet). Must be one of the only places off the US with warm clear water, right? We're fairly lucky here, not too far from the tropics, although Brisbane is about an hour away from the caost. Good call...

    G9 strobe choice opinion needed

Another thought, I know a few people have mentioned they're going to sell their DS-125's with the release of the DS-160. Might be worth keeping an eye on the clasifieds here and on wetpixel.com (or even putting up a WTB post).

    G9 strobe choice opinion needed

I had a DS-51 with my G7/Ike kit. It performed OK, but there were a few times when I borrowed a DS-125, and it was amazingly better. The DS-51 is OK with macro, but not great with WA. I came second in a local shootout earlier in the year using a DS-125, which I'm sure made all the difference...
