I envisaged stopping on the way back from hospital to pick up some fills for both the wife and myself. Or doesn't it work that way?

:baby: I do HOPE you are talking about bottle fills :baby:

That's the only thing you will be filling for quite a while:rofl3:

Gudge What phenomenal pictures (as usual) Love the tiny crab.

Aardvark if you aren't delighted with those shots I seriously doubt your sense of judgment! Those are great shots and the viz looks better than we've been seeing.

Sas surf entry? leaking suit, trashed on the rocks and surge come on... you only lasted an hour?????? What a wus! I thought you were tougher (dumber) than that:rofl3::rofl3: Then fishermen to top it off I can't believe Chilled didn't make you go back in and do it right:no:

:canada: A few shots of the SB Canadians down under. Bygolly and Acanthurus told us these would be her first salt water dives. They warned us these were her 3rd and 4th dives post OW and her air consumption and bouyancy were not good:shakehead:

OMG I couldn't find the anticipated silt trail, she didn't look at all like a cork and she only lasted 45 minutes:shocked2: Seeing her in the water you'd never guess she was that new. We had such a good time we went back for more! Been a looooonnnng time since we did a double ate Bare Island. We don't think Bygolly has acclimatised to the southern hemisphere yet. He seemed to spend much of his time hanging upsidedown as you can see in the pic. Thanks to the Canucks! We are waiting for you to post.... maybe a week before you are off the liveaboard.

:rofl3: Petunias, we need to start posting the good things about children so Tassie doesn't get too scared!!! :p I have two friends due this week also :) Hope it all goes well for you + the misses Tassie!

I must say, I did feel a bit woosy ending a dive so early, especially as it was my only one for the weekend :depressed: We were doing ok until we ended up near the rocks! It was kind of fun in away as you'd never know what you were going to see until it was about an inch from your face. A dive full of surprises! :rofl3: We're probably giving the site another go on Thursday with a few friends so hopefully that will go a lot better :) One of the people who has started joining us is good at figuring out the weather and how it affects sites, so we shouldn't get such a bad dive this time as if Black Rock is bad we'll go somewhere else on his recommendation. Me + chilled just show up whenever we feel like, with varying degrees of success. :lotsalove:

Looks like you had fun with your Canadian friends. She did well so soon out of open water. :)

sounds like a successful day Shelia! so what was the critter count and conditions? did you find a weedy??

well done on spreading the SB friendliness - it IS appreciated :flowers:

Hmmm .... where to start... this thread is VERY active this week, you would have thought with the weather and water warmer people would have better things to do.

Chilled ... nice clingfish ... as you know we call the rock where you took the pic "jelly bean rock", sheila was talking to another diver and mentioned it and he said oh you mean "dead mans fingers" .. amazing how quickly both knew exactly where each other was talking about.

Aardvark ... nothing wrong with those pics ... the colours look good to me

Tassie ... sorry mate but its unlikely you will be diving for a while

Gudge ... love the pics ... and showing my ignorance, but what the heck is a Woodys dioptre???

:snorkel2: :canada: :moose:
As to yesterday ...
BI was calmer and clearer than on the Sunday and we did 2 dives with bygolly and acanthrus which we enjoyed immensely. The viz was better on the first dive (at the end of the outgoing tide) than on the second (at the start of the incoming tide) which I found a little strange as you usually get all the silt from the bay on the outgoing, anyway the critter count was quite acceptable ... seahorses, weedies, cuttlefish, octopus :eek:ctopus:, boxfish, moray as well as the usual stuff including SAS (the very friendly blue groper) :fish:
... unfortunately NO TURTLES :depressed::depressed: :turtle:

It turned out to be a long but very enjoyable day ... we got home at 7pm after diving and socialising

... Aardvark if you aren't delighted with those shots I seriously doubt your sense of judgment! Those are great shots and the viz looks better than we've been seeing...

Thanks, I am happy with them, just would like to be able to get the colours right. I might laminate a couple of them and take them back down and see how close I really was :D Vis was pretty good in the Haven on Sunday and I'm only in about four to seven metres of water with the sun just behind "directly overhead".

Don't worry, it won't be long before the little one can help:

Gudge ... love the pics ... and showing my ignorance, but what the heck is a Woodys dioptre???
Depending on where you live they are more correctly known as a Nexus or Anthis Wet Mount Lens. One of the first people to sell them in the USA was Woody Mayhew from Nexus America so they ended up being called Woody's Dioptre. The Woody is a dioptre that can be put over the end of the flat port on your camera to allow you to focus closer and get more magnification than you can with the lens alone. Same principle as the Inon close up lenses that are so popular on digital compact cameras.

Scroll down a bit on this page to get more information:

Underwater Photography Equipment, Diopter Port Battery Charger, NiMH

So when an underwater photographer tells you that they have a "Woody" there is no reason to be embarassed or concerned. :)
