As far as budget, I get that, but sometimes it's better to spend a little more in the beginning then having to re-spend money later (try to get into the right gear the first time).

I agree with you. Where you wanna go imply some research not only about computers but mostly about diving a personal philosophy (knowing yourself). Gosh, you can do technical diving with tables and a bottom timers.

Personally I use Cochran Computers EMC-20H and tables.

As everything in life you should know your limitations, including money. The thing is do the best with what you have!
