I'm a hybrid -- I like the bungie over the top for a thumb hold, and see little or no downside to it; but I tried the double-ender from the butt of the light to the bungie and found it unmanageably clumsy in cold water, with the remote ballast lights (which are shorter), so I went back to the tied-on boltsnap and the o-ring on the butt.

I just skipped tying on a boltsnap. I have the cord over the top and an O-ring on the butt. Sometimes I leave the O-ring on the light and just let it dangle, sometimes I clip it to the chest by itself. I have a spare double ender if I drop it although knock on wood I haven't done that in awhile.

Otherwise I agree double clipped double ender is a pain with dry gloves and doesn't reach very well either (my lighthead is too long).
