Eagle Ray, Whale shark... hopefully in Roatan in March!

Hey diverkim, I thought those six gills lived in really deep water, the only ones I have ever seen on video were seen from ROV's in deep water, do you know if they have ever been seen at scuba diving depths?

I want to view a great white while attacking its prey. Ive heaard that divers do it. They must remain perfectly still and camouflage with the ottom, say a reef or dark spot on the ocean floor, using a rebeather of course :eek:ut: , also i would like to swim with a whale shark as some have on this post :)

JT2,

Yes, sixgills are usually very deep but at a few spots on Vancouver Island they come to shallower depths in the summer. They can be viewed in Barkley Sound and Saanich Inlet, but the best place is Hornby Island in August, September.
Worth a trip.

Whale shark! ... but I enjoy every dive. Sometimes I spend an hour
on one cubic metre looking at whatever is there.

I have some links here for you for the Sixgills:

And this following link is the best I've ever found, and written very well also:

As diverkim would like to know... I would most like to see a giant squid (Architeuthis dux). Seeing as this is a near impossibility, I will have to give another example.
There are so many things I would like to see, and seeing as I'm only 23 and have only experienced BC diving, I think I may have to get back to you on that one after 10 years or so. :D

I would love to swim with penguins in Antarctica though, that would be really cool.

Whale Shark, Manta Ray, Dolphins, Sea Lions, ummm, a well fed Great White and as many of the medium, small, and itty bitty things I can till I see the others.

Ummm, let's see .... I'd like a Great White, a Whale Shark and any of the whales.

While I'm asking, it would be cool to see a Carcharocles (Carcharodon) Megalodon (pic). Of course, that would probably be the last thing I ever saw. :D
