I am considering subscribing to a dive magazine and was wondering what everyone thoughts were. Which one is best for recreational diving?

I pick up "Diver Training" for free at local shops.

The magazines I have seen are so contaminated by advertiser money, I wouldn't pay for them.

I subscribe to 5 including Dive Training and by far Dive Training the best.

At least Dive Training actually has some stuff on dive training. The rest are really just travel logs.

I subscribe to a local magazine that I read with great interest every month. I also read "DIVE", the BSAC rag about 8-10 times a year and I get the PADI magazine sent to me a few times a year because I'm a member and I read it with great interest too. I usually visit the Rodales site on internet about 4 times a year to catch up on what they're saying and I visit www.underwatertimes.com every so often for the amusement factor.... They have an article right now (Click Here) with an enormous cuckle factor.

In terms of mainstream magazines available in Canada: from what I've seen I guess Immersed is the one that stimulates the diver in me the most and Rodales (despite being a little sloppy on the diving side) speaks to my under-water nature-lover/tourist side.

And of course I'm addicted to scubaboard. I read "thedecostop" and try (in spurts) to keep up on what's left of tekdiver but I'm not a tek diver so I don't feel qualified to acutally write anything over there (saves a lot of time too... :)).

seeing that your from canada i suggest "Diver" because its a Canadian pub with lots of local stuff. Rodales is probably OK for a year then it gets repetitive (nice pics though). I personally don't like Diver Training because it's main focus is for US divers

for me, i rad the following regularly:

Undersea journal (PADI's professional journal; good)
Nitrox Diver (IANTD's magazine)
Sport Diver (PADI's non-member magazine)
Immersed (which I enjoy)
Alert Diver (DAN's magazine; good)
Rodales Scuba diving, which is invaluable for gear reviews

I read the following occasionally:
Diver (from Britain, and a good rag)
Dive training, great for all levels of diver
Diver's Ocean Planet, which i will probably subscribe to eventually

I don't subscribe to the following any more:
Fathoms

I would subscribe to the following if it wasn't so expensive:
Undercurrents, which is great for dive travel reviews

I really miss the following, since it's no longer published:
aquacorps

Any ideas about good technical diving magazines?

geoff

Underwater, magazine of the Association of Diving Contractors.
Florida SCUBA News
Imersed
Dive Training
Nitrox Diver
Advanced Diver Magazine

Others now and then as I see something interesting.
