I know staff shouldn't post here, but Walter... I just found this post by El Orans which explains that the Christmas theme can be removed easily. I removed mine, since I do not celebrate Christmas and I agree with you that people should have a choice, and not be forced to opt into the christmas theme....

I think his point was more that although he can change the theme so he doesn't view it himself, a badge is still there under his name for anyone else using the holiday theme. In other words - he can't remove it - just not see it.

I'm a new diver, new to SB, and this is the first form/message board I have participated in. Overall, it has all been a great experience, but here are some of my comments...

I agree that the condescending tone to newbies that post SUCKS! For those that repeatedly answer the same old questions...THANK YOU.

It is sad that people have to preface their posts with "I did a search..." or "please don't everyone yell at me...". Which is why I am posting anonymously to avoid this.

The search function is difficult to use.

People need to use more descriptive titles for posts. "NEED HELP" is not a good title and does not indicate anything about the topic being discussed. People at my work do that for their emails and I hate it. It also makes it difficult to use the search function.

Hijacking posts is another one...it is especially annoying when it involves a bunch of inside jokes that have nothing to do with the topic.

Why don't more people use the chat room? I'm just curious.

I have never had or seen any issues with the Mods. I do agree with the right to post all opinions (as long as they are on topic and not abusive). I like that language is moderated.

Well, that is it...I have no clue as to how somebody should fix or tend to most of my "issues" but you asked for them. Keep up the good work. I have learned a ton from this place. A few annoying people are worth dealing with when the majority of people seem to be truly good people.

Sorry Howard, but you did not remove yours. You still have a Santa badge displayed under your name. Hiding from it doesn't remove it. I don't mind seeing the Christmas badges displayed. I object to being forced to display one.

One thing I get tired of hearing is that the mods do not have time or are over-worked considering they are not paid. How about just getting some more mods to share the load?

I didn't read through the posts, so forgive me if this has already been said. I would like to see Spell Check on the Board. I know you can download it, but I can't download anything on my work computers due to our IT nazi's. Just a button to click on to spell check a post before it is posted. Just my $0.02.

Where do you live that you can dive down the main street of town? I thought I was lucky living in south Florida.

I use Firefox and Google spell check. Can you not have either there? Google's is better than FF's, but neither will catch mistakes like "dive down main street." :silly:

There is one already. It's in the top right hand corner when you post - above the smilies. It's ABC with a tick underneath it.
