Perhaps that's why nobody manufactures any white SMB's.

Actually, Carter does. I have one made by them that is white, with a dive flag printed on one side of it. It's vinyl coated and waterproof and can be used as a dry bag for clothes, as a lift bag, or as a dive flag/smb.

But from a visibility standpoint, I much prefer my orange 80lb halcyon bag with SOLAS tape on it.

I did not suggest the bag; just an extra idea that I use.

If the statement below is not suggesting a garbage bag, then it is suggesting nothing.

1: Carry SMB, mirror, dive light, and compressed air whistle on every dive to make finding your easier. I also carry a white trash bag for a night time too; fill with air and shine light into it.

Oh, I don't know. The garbage bag might be useful if lost at sea ... as a shark avoidance device. Just pull it up over your fins and legs and the shark will think.... well, I don't know what it will think, but I am sure it would swim away shaking its head.

You'd probably lose! Shark would obviously think, "mmmmm squid"! CHOMP!

Don, Chip is a strong personality and he doesn't appreciate poor ideas. If he thinks you have one, he calls you on it. Unfortunately, he has found more than a few of your ideas, poor. This does not mean he is stalking you or any of the other names you have called him and anyone who is in agreement with him.

I think taking a trash bag as a signal device is a poor idea. There are much better items that are made for that purpose. I also agree here, with Chip. I guess this makes me a member of any number of the names you called him.

OP, everyone has something that shakes their confidence. The key here, is that you learn from it, figure out how to handle it, and move on with more knowledge and ability to handle problems in the future. You can, and will become a better diver from this. Learn from it and hang in there. If you power on through, you will be better for it.

If that were true of whichever faceless Username you are referencing, there are certainly better ways to suggest better ideas as well as why the harmless bag is indeed a bad one. Some people would just rather harass, lie if needed, etc. for whatever reason I could only guess. Maybe they were bottle fed as babies; who knows...?

Now if & when I do suggest a poor idea, which was not the SMB, mirror, or air power whistle I don't guess - even tho one of the gang finally ridiculed those without reason, I welcome constructive corrections. None of that gang bothered and it seems you're not either. Oh !@#$ well...
