Dunno - When I first started reading this thread I thought it was going to be a joke, but I actually find the concept kind of interesting; seems like it could be something fun and different to try out.

Could come in handy during the Zombie Apocalypse. Seems more like boys with toys. And money.

I've looked at their website and compared the curriculum to various specialties offered by the traditional sport diving agencies. Most of the agencies create their Master Diver program from a combination of assorted individual specialties and their Rescue Diver specialty.

The Special Ops Scuba curriculum does seem to encompass this concept. They cover the skills found in Navigation, Night Diving, Boat Diving and lots of Rescue Diver related skills in an unusual, entertaining environment (according to their descriptions.). Their "Level III" has a First Aid/Oxygen Provider prerequisite. So that's covered. The only thing they don't explicitly discuss is Deep Diving. I, personally as an instructor, feel that a Deep Diving specialty should be a part of any Advanced Diver/Master Diver course.

In SSI you have to complete 4 full specialty programs and Stress & Rescue (which has a First Aid/Oxygen Provider prerequisites) to be a Master Diver. I'd say the Special Ops Scuba program probably covers these requisites. If this sounds like fun to you, I'd go for it.

No, the PADI Zomie Diver Specialty will be better for this.

Will this course make you a better diver. No.

But it will make you a poorer one.

Sounds pretty impressive. Special Ops means you're like, a frogman who assasinates people. With this cert. you should contact Gibbs for a job.

An entrepreneur is "someone who finds a need and fills it."

Special Ops Scuba has obviously found a need that was not being filled by traditional training agencies with less exotic specialties. Good for them.

Are they alone? Others have offered heli-scuba and underwater self defense (Mizujitsu). Couldn't afford the former, loved the latter.

Might be part of a trend. Do a google search on adult fantasy camps and you may be surprised what's out there.

Looks like it could be fun and you might learn something. The two are not mutually exclusive. I have no delusions that this will make me an underwater warrior any more than the mud obstacle 5K run this weekend in Anchorage makes me a marine corps recruit, Camp CDN will make me a commercial diver, or Gleasons Boxing Fantasy Camp in New York would make me a prize fighter. Its all about the fun and experience.

For the naysayers, please tell me that you've never dreamt of being in tales of derring-dos and fantasizing about doing UDT work.

It's dress-up for adult. Big whoopdedoo.

I'm never dreamt of UDT work. Seriously.

I can think of better ways to waste money, and more effective ways to get training.
