The one thing in this thread that concerned me the most about the instructor was this.

I think you should have a chance to prove that you can, rather than the assumption that you can't. Now granted, I wasn't there to see why that assumption was made and safety has to be the instructors #1 priority.

This was the one of the most disturbing things the OP posted. (Other than being OOA at 100'! No excuse for not watching your SPG)

Agree on both points. Not sure how many (if any other than the OOA) of those "close calls" were while diving.
Also not sure about "not being allowed to do the exercises in open water". Firtsly, with my course, we did all of them in the pool (over 5 nights) and then did just the scenarios at the ocean. I thought this is the usual format. If the OP's course followed that, why was he even at the OW site if he didn't/couldn't do the skills in the pool? As well, why would you be learning the specific skills again (in addition to the scenarios) at the ocean after you've done them all in the pool?
More examples of missing information.

There are some similarities to SCUBA and Sky diving.... Run out of air, run out of altitude is a fail. Figure it out if you are lucky to survive and try again with a better awareness. Take it as a great learning experience and try again. IF you are always having close calls this might not be for you. Sorry tough love here.....

I would say that if the OP is having a large number of close calls in any aspect of his life, he needs to stop and re-evaluate all of his decision making skills.

I DO NOT appreciate any of your comments on this thread and I'd rather for you to pound salt, or depending how old you are "bite the dust"

The more you talk, the harder it is for me to believe you could ever have had personal problems interacting/communicating with others in the course.

I wish I could delete all of the unhelpful posters in this thread.

Yes, you do seem to have a problem interacting in a calm, rational manner with others who aren't doing exactly what you want them to do. Wonder if that has some connection to your course issues?

I'm sure there are other jobs in this world then ridiculing forum posters. Maybe you should do one.

Some of these people are trying to save your life..... You might want to have some self reflection and think about what you are doing. I say keep going, but other that have met you have said stop and think. You might want to.

Of course you do. The problem is that you don't know which ones are helpful or not. To you helpful is an answer that supports your opinion. At least that is how it appears.

Calling people old... With age comes wisdom. I've learned as much from people on this board as I have from instructors, maybe more. The key is to listen.

You need to empty your cup. In fact, you need to turn it right side up again.

You should go back re-read the posts. The instructor did tell him what his problems were. He refuses to accept that can't get an automatic card for his payment of the class and prefers instead to blame the instructor for his faults.

You need to read some of nldiver's other threads. It is obviously not her/his fault.
