They won't set up my tank if I ever dive with them.
No op on Cozumel that I know of will deny you the privilege of setting up your own gear..

Aldora has an analyzer on their boat. The crew sets up your bcd/reg, analyzes the tank and shows you the reading on the analyzer.

Indeed they seemed serious about analyzing, as they should be. Sure, if it's banked Nitrox, the likelihood of the mix in one tank being way off is very low. Still, we always made sure to observe the reading as they showed it to us.

We let them set up our rigs--why not, it's not like they're going to break something--but the first thing we would do upon boarding the boat was to check thoroughly how they had set them up. Usually there was something minor to adjust, but generally they got it right. They do this every day, for hundreds of divers a week. It's part of the service you are paying for.

I have metal clamps on my tank bands instead of velcro. One morning I arrived at the boat (a different dive op than I use now) and see the Capt. looking at my BCD that he has just put on the tank. I walk over and see that he has put the BCD on the tank upside down. He also has put the clamps on so tight that he can not open them to correct the mistake (he must have used the weight of the tank to close the clamps). A DM from the boat next to us in the caletta was watching and reached over and handed him a large screwdriver to pry the clamps open. Guess who never touched my gear again.

I think a lot of people are not too sure how to set up their own gear. I want mine a certain way and I'd rather no one touched it. I'm happy to have them look at it and question what I've done.

...upside down ??? WOW!

This is not related to the orignial post but I think you know as this is about 3P and Aldora. And instead of creating a new topic, I think its better to ask here...

I really don't know if this is even a valid (or stupid) question... But I just realized that many of the boats are really small (I'm used to Thailand diving where the boats are big) and I was wondering if they have toilets on their boats? And if not, how that is actually handled?

We are looking at Aldora and 3P at the moment, and not a clue about more detail on the boats..

There are no stupid questions! Aldora's big boat, Falicity, has a head. The smaller boats do not. I'm not sure about Aldora V and Aldora VI, which are generally used for adventure dives and special ops dives up north. I haven't been on them yet. Surface intervals are generally spent at beach clubs where facilities are available. Otherwise, well, it's a big ocean.
