With the 2017 RAV4 the removal of the dumb key allows the fob to remain in the car. You just manually lock the doors with the dumb key.
I think I asked and you answered before, but I forgot what you said----What about the alarm when locking car with a dumb key?

Never ever take a smart key diving with you !

Purchase a dumb key
Secure it to your dive equipment

After the dive
If the key has been submerged salt in water
Place the key in your mouth to remove salt water
Dry key-
By Air from SCUBA tank

Open vehicle door with salt free dry key

I don't think that would work with my keyless fob. The doors unlock when I get within 3 feet of my car.

I have keyless entry. I wrap my spare key in aluminum foil and put it under the back seat. This prevents the vehicle from detecting it and allowing someone else to open the door.

If I loose my key, I open the door with the keypad, retrieve the spare key from under the seat and unwrap it.

Sam--How do you open your door with a dumb key when there is no slot in the handle to insert it? Again, can you get your (modern) car rigged up so you can open it with a dumb key and not set off the alarm?

You experiment and tell me amd the others...

Most divers in Kalfornia, where it all began, have dedicated older diving vehicles --. trucks or vans
Nothing too fancy-- nothing too new- but dedicated to diving

Another option, if you have a trailer hitch, is to use a combo safe that inserts into the trailer hitch. I bought one after my Jeep was stolen in Hawaii.

Look at your car manual. Car probably has a plastic cap hiding the key hole. If your battery dies, you would need a backup to get into your car.

Go pro housing for me. It keeps a camera bone dry to approx 60m so why not keys? Also can be obtained pretty cheaply.

The alternative for me is trying to dismantle the drivers door handle to get to the key hole with wet hands and dripping drysuit to insert a dumb key.
