    Which wetsuit?

How do you normally feel in 75 deg water? I dive a 3/2 with a vest and hood and I am good. If I were to go deeper or stay longer I might be convinced to go with a 5 but I haven't really needed it. Even on my hour long dives I don't fee the need for more.

I just heard there was a dive accident on the Hilo side of the Big Island yesterday. A diver was found at 20 ft. Not much more info at this point.

I may be available. The situating gear doesn't bother me. I'm sure others will be available too.

    Golf Diving

Search for the Dirty Jobs episode. I think that is where they showed most of the hazards. It may have been an article in a mag though. Snakes and gaters are two of the big ones. The chemicals are a huge problem too. From what I understand it is not worth it.

    Big Island/Oahu diving

When diving the big island, take into account the elevation of Volcano. It is like flying after diving. And you should plan on a down day before flying back to Oahu.

    Masks...my pain

When trying on a mask, I was told to lay it on your face while looking up. If the mask does not contact your face all the way around, it will have a better chance of leaking. Another thing to look for is if your eyebrows are under the inner skirt. Another problem area is from the cheeks to the...

    Snakebite

You could wear the snakebite gators. They would serve a dual purpose with a drysuit too.

How does your dive boot fit?

Definitely try other brands. I have a problem with a lot of brands. I need to have a softer sole to help with the width of my feet.

Tusa Imprex ProCubic 3 dump valves

They do screw off. They are just on good. Just get a strap wrench. I just checked mine and had no problems. I think that they must just be on a little tight from the factory. They still have them on their website, so I don't know why you would think they are discontinued.

Big Island & Kauai ... last two weeks of May

I went with Kona Honu Divers because they were the only ones with a one tank dive. They set up and broke down all the gear. With the shore dives in Kona, if you go with Jacks, they offer unlimited fills with their tank rentals. If you keep your dives close, you can get in several dives in one...

I have a large pair you can borrow. Just pay shipping.

    Not a sit-on-top, but how's this?

My first thoughts is that there are few attachment points for tethers and no compartments. You will also need to be very careful with sharp points on your gear. Any zip-ties or scratches on your tank/tank boot would be able to so some damage. You would also need to load your gear in the water. I...

    Cert Numbers

My NAUI card has no numbers. When looking for a replacement on the NAUI website, I found that they use your social (last time I looked). PADI cards all have a different cert number until the professional levels. Then it's the same number.

Is there an alternative for dry suit underwear

What temp are your dives? I dove 77f with just some UnderArmor Cold. When I did my ice dives, I wore cotton long underwear, polypro (military issue), goretex liner (upper and lower), a sweatshirt, two pair of wool socks and a pair of cotton socks. I also used some chemical heaters but I don't...

    First time traveling to hawaii!!!!!

If you are really concerned about gear, bring your mask/snorkel and reg. Jacks is a great shop and I wouldn't worry about the gear that they rent. If you have extra room and weight, bring your BC and fins. The manta dive is easy. The other dive might test your skills. I recommend getting a...
