Assuming you could afford to rent or buy a AED. Would it be worth the trouble to bring on dive trips (through customs ect.) to other countries (Roatan, Bonaire)?

If one could easily afford an AED, and had the training to use it...sure, why not? Early defibrillation is the key in the case of cardiac arrest (assuming a rhythm that is able to be defibrillated). Lots of schools, nursing homes, malls, etc, have an AED available, because they require little training and can make a big difference.

I certainly take mine when we go diving! Mine is fairly water tolerant and the manufacturer tells me it has been successfully used on a rescue boat. Engines turned off to reduce interference.

I have never had a dive OP or other divers object to the space it takes. I think out of country trips would be an even more important reason to take it. What resources will be available after all. I haven't tried to take it through customs as we haven't gone overseas since we got it but next trip .. it will be coming with me!
