Mixed Certifications

I got my PADI OW cert. A buddy is an SDI and IANTD instructor. Obviously it would be cheaper for me to have him do my certification for AOW but can you jump oranizations like that? Have a PADI OW and the tranfer to an SDI AOW?

Most of the agencies will accpet equivelant certifications from other agencies. You can do the AOW with whoever you like. Enjoy it.

Done that exact same thing myself. I have 3 different cert. agencies.

It is a common thing to have cards from multiple agencies.
Not a big deal at all.

I think that they only rating that the majority of agencies don't recognize from each other is Instructor, and I've occasionally seen references to 'Cross-Certification' even there.

Yeah, Dive Master and above are the only ones I've seen not directly transfer (need a cross over course).

For recreational stuff: no problem with transfers
For technical stuff: check with the agencies, some agencies require a particular progression or pre-reqs.
