When does a new diver become ‘advanced’!?

I was told "You'll be an advanced diver after your first real accident, depending on how you react, and you will be able to decide for yourself".
If that's true, I'm definitely not an advanced diver no matter what my most recent course textbook was entitled. Because I still haven't had a real accident (and I don't plan to have one, so with some luck I'll never be an advanced diver).
