Good day Divers

I am in a bit of a pickle, I need some information regarding regulators, I need a regulator which can be used for normal diving as well as deep diving ( balanced 1st & 2nd stage), and that should last me a lifetime.

I have been looking at a few products from scuba-pro(MK25 S600) and mares(Abyss 42) but don't know which to choose, is there any one that can help me with some more information about regulators and which one to buy? (not specific to the models that I have mentioned). :idk:

Thanks

There are 3 companies that have been around for a long time that still support models from the 60's and 70's.
Scubapro
Sherwood
AquaLung/US Divers

If the "last me a lifetime" bit is the main criteria your best bet is with one of these companies.

For long life I would also go with a diaphragm (or sealed) 1st stage..
If you also have to have a balanced 2nd stage here are your choices:
AquaLung.....LX or Legend
Sherwood... SR1
Scubapro....Mk11/17 with 500/600/700 or G250

Scubapro MK25/G250V: simple design, solidly built, worldwide parts availability. Not sure about the "lifetime": assuming you have 30-40 years to go, the reg may last that long, but I don't know about the parts. I also like the Aqua Lung Cousteau/SEA which is the ancestor of the Legend, but I like the MK20/G250 a lot better for non-freezing water.

I also am not sure what you mean by last a lifetime. Presumably, you mean a very long time. You could buy two ScubaMax sealed, balanced regulators for the price of one "Major" brand.... even if you upgrade to a balanced second stage. These will last you a very long time, and be suitable for a wide variety of conditions. Anyway, look for "balanced", "sealed", "anti-freeze or freeze resistant" as features if you want something that will suit your future needs.

For me ScubaPro and Apeks (UK Bias ) would be the way to go, with ScubaPro regs being a little better!

If you're looking for a well made and durable reg a ScubaPro is the way to go.

The big question is are you looking at cold water diving or just warmer water rather than deep or not deep :)

Thanks for all the response
By lifetime I meant a good couple of years( 10 years or so) I have narrowed down my choices between Scuba-pro MK17/A700 and the MK17 S600

I will be diving cold and warm water, deep and normal depth diving. I think I am going to get the MK17/A700 setup.

Thanks for all the help:D
