The waters here typically vary between 11C (~50F) and 16C (~60F).
DSS Rig - SS plate with a 26# Torus wing.
Scubapro Mk17/G250V with an R295 as an octo.
Mares X-Vision mask.
Mares Avanti 3X fins.
Suunto Vytec computer.
Zero (local company) two piece, double seal wetsuit.
I usually dive with a Faber 12L (~100cf) steel cylinder but, as I borrow them from my local club, the cylinder can vary.
Not coincidentally the equipment I most enjoy are the latest pieces which I bought because they were the ones I took my time to research and investigate before buying.
One of these is my bp/w which I absolutely ADORE. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it, and DSS, to anyone. A bp/w doesn't necessarily suit everyone and I respect that but I really like the fact that I can take 3kgs (~6 lbs) off my belt, that the harness simply disappears and my chest is totally uncluttered, that the tank is rock solid on my back (I HATED how much it used to shift with a jacket style BCD) and the wing is so streamlined.
I barely notice that my reg is even there it breathes so smoothly and effortlessly. You do pay a premium for SP gear but for me the extra cost is worth it for gear which I know will last me decades.
I really like my Vytec, even though it was maybe the second piece of equipment I ever bought. The screen is large, easy to read, and there are lots of subtle features like the ability to change your mix underwater (forgot to change before I hopped in ... oops
) that I really enjoy. Now that I have it on bungee straps using Tobin's mount its even more of a pleasure since it never moves on my arm. I haven't had to readjust my computer even once underwater when I used to have to do it at least once a dive.
The mask is nice but it can tend to leak when I look up. I haven't tried any other fins but I enjoy the power from the Avanti. That doesn't stop me being jealous whenever I see Quattros though and I am dying to try a pair of Jets. No matter what fins I use in future though (if I ever change ... the 3X have taken an absolute beating and still work prefectly. They are really robust) they will definitely have spring straps!
