    Vandenberg In Political Trouble?

the situation is all kinds of fluid, so take this for what its worth... my source has heard that the vandenberg is now being targeted for a sinking toward the end of 2008. apparently, a large part of it has to do with getting money from the government at the beginning of the new fiscal year...

    Vandenberg In Political Trouble?

those in charge of the vandenberg are attempting to petition the coast guard for an extension on the sink-date ultimatum an additional 2 weeks into june (i.e., hurricane season).

    Vandenberg In Political Trouble?

as someone who lived in key west for over a year and a half, i can attest to the fact that most, "conchs," are essentially stupid rednecks with money due to land value. they are quite arrogant about their status, which leads to the key point that they hardly give a damn about the opinions of...

    Accident at Cave Excursions

got wind through an attorney that represents a number of dive shops in the keys, that it was an aluminum tank made before 1990, i.e., the cheap alloy...

    Which nitrox course?

TDI and SSI state the dives are optional... i would consider SSI's academic materials comprable to PADI's. TDI's academic course seemed a tad easier than TDI and SSI's. PADI and NAUI require dives, and NAUI seems to have the most challenging of the EAN courses...

    FBI @ Ginne Spring...

Heard on the news tonight in G'ville that the FBI was investigating an old lead about a suspicious person trying to get certified back in Sept. Apparently he was very interested in cave diving, wanting to get certified in it right away, i believe. The good people at Ginnie sent all his info to...

    Henderson Gold Core vs. Hyperstretch?

i just used my henderson gold-core 3mm jumpsuit last week, and i loved it! i dove it in 68 degree water, (with an akona hood) and was decently comfy... 68 was getting a bit too cold for 3mm, but, i made it. the 68 water was at the bottom of the dive while it was 70 degrees at the top. i was...

    USS Spiegle Grove

That is GREAT! I've been anxiously awaiting news about her upcoming sinking! Thanks for the heads up! I will be in the Keys all summer, and I was excited about diving on a ship that had been so recently sunk, there was no growth on it. Woo-hoo for me!

BOW at Pro Dive in FLL?

i've dove with pro dive on 2 separate occasions, and they are a class operation from what i can tell. i didn't take a class there, but it is said to be a good school as well. as for whether or not you should take OW again or not, well, thats your call. it's all up to you. i don't know where...

    An exciting new life?

Drew, that was an outstanding post! You gave ME insight as well seeing as I am 95% sure I'm going to SCUBA school this summer. One of the places I think I'd like to try is the Caymans. From what I've seen in pictures, it looks like some of the best diving in the world! Could ya give any...

Hall's International Diving Institute..Who's been there?

The Coastie, I also am looking into Hall's. As a matter of fact, I'm going down to check them out next weekend. I live in Florida, so, driving to the keys isn't all that bad. The actual trip of 6 hours ain't gonna be fun, but, better than flying somewhere. I talked to a LDS owner, who I go...

Question for people who know people...

Walter, thanks for the clarification, my geography of the keys ain't up to snuff yet...! Moxie, I do know of Pro Dive, and I have even dove with them before, but, it seems Hall's has a massive reputation preceding them. A LDS owner here is a grad of Pro Dive, but he even admitted Hall's is...

Question for people who know people...

I'm highly considering going to Bob Brayman's International Diving Career Institute at Hall's. It's located on Marathon Key in Florida... It is on the pricey side of becoming instructor certified, but they seem to have a good reputation. Can anyone out there weigh in on this topic? Thanks!!
