Great shots Jon & Caloy Nice to see the activity picking back up on the thread. When life's challenges come at me like a freight train I find that spending a few minutes focused on subjects other than the problem at hand normally help put things back into perspective. Instead of heading down...

The demands associated with launching a software start-up in this environment combined with weekend and evening shoots, elections, and then the holidays took every minute of free time that I had over the past few months so apologies for not being around to support one of my favorite communities...

Andy I really enjoyed your Egypt shots. Steady work on that hand-held night shot. Well done. Welcome RivalPC. What a great opening shot and presentation. Also, count your blessings that your partner enjoys diving. I’m looking forward to seeing more of your work. Blue Moon

Thanks again for the kind words on my rodeo shot. With the goal of capturing a hero shot I like to show motion in my action shots while keeping the subject in focus. The above shot was captured panning with my Canon 30D and EF 70-200 f/2.8L IS USM lens. I shoot a lot of aviation so panning is a...

Thanks for the kudos on my summer highlights that I posted a few weeks and two hurricanes ago. In the meantime, great shots Soggy, Parabolic, WoJo, Jon, and Ken. Mega kudos to Jon for the well deserved national recognition! Since this is a global forum hopefully my following shot will not...

Canon EOS 5D Mark II Master Thread

The initial pre-release reports about Canon’s new 5D MarkII set expectations that this will be an outstanding body for underwater shooters that seek to capture the best stills as well as have the ability to capture 1080P HD video when those special moments arise. Vincent Laforet, winner of...

It’s been too long since I had a chance to enjoy the images on SB. I spent some time last night mesmerized by the last six months of images that I’ve missed. All I can say is WOW. Outstanding work my friends. This week I had a chance to capture a nightscape as moonlight and lightning filled...

What a beautiful shot. Perhaps just my old, hard to calibrate monitor but the horizon appears to be leaning ever slightly to the right. If so, you may want to level it to make it a tad bit more marketable. Excellent mood & colors and the foreground actually make it more diverse. Well done...

With the full moon rising in the constellation Aquarius I set up my telescope as well as a camera tripod hoping the clouds would break so that I could capture the lunar eclipse. While waiting for the eclipse a break in the clouds allowed me to focus on a lunar illusion that has fascinated me...

If we are fortunate enough, we cross paths with a handful of people in our life that are always there for us both in spirit as well as in this realm. I shot the following image to surprise one such friend. While just a simple image of his boat dock, my hope is that it brings him joy as he...

Glad to see the site back up as I’ve missed seeing everyone’s work. Catherine – Love the colors in your images. Your shots always leave me asking myself why I don’t live near blue water… FishEyeView – nice heron. Jam – great shots. Especially like the cedar tree Clay – nice macro...

PermanentlyNarced, great focus on the turtle's eyes. Well done. CheddarChick - I think that is some kind of alien cocoon.... Kudos for being brave enough to touch it... cfElliott - my duck likes your swan... My original was shot in harsh conditions as it had just finished raining, the...

I was up at the lake yesterday and this mallard hen posed for me. I was very close to her as I shot this with my Canon EOS 30D & EF 24-105mm f/4L IS USM. Blue Moon

Chantal as always thanks for the encouragement. My intense sales and marketing engagement with a London based start-up wrapped up a few weeks ago. In times such as these, as my journey seeks a new course; I try to focus on things that are close to my heart so that I’ll not wander too far from...

Fastmarc great image and title. Catherine love the mermaid shot of your daughter. Along those lines, Jessie and I were playing in the pool yesterday doing a little bit of waterdog training. Not a great shot but a fun, sentimental one for me… Blue Moon

Thanks for the feedback Larry. I shot a few with more DOF but the droplets were not in focus... That is still my biggest problem with macro, especially with the 1.4x teleconverter on the 100mm lens... Clay, love your macro wing shots. Very well done. I'd like to see more. Blue Moon
