Well I've got 2 hours left to get in on this thread. One thing I'm not going to miss about Australia is the internet.

Fish, Rock, Cave. on Vimeo
The soundtrack might not be for everyone, so for the cave segment you might have to turn the vimeo volume down and play some Michael Bolton or whatever does it for you.

@Gudge, I didn't realized the soft corals did that, haven't been diving often enough to notice those kinds of things, that's cool, great photos.

:blinking:Does that mean you are not going to miss us because you are going to stay in touch with our weekly threads? That would be nice:blinking: we've certainly been enjoying your contributions. That video is superb.... it really gives an accurate feeling of going in the deep end and up the chimney.... great stuff. Thanks for that link. I enjoy the still shots but the video captures the experience so well.

I may punish myself a bit by keeping an eye on things here :) And I'll miss a lot of stuff. But not Telstra.

I agree with Sas ... yay batfish ... Love the pics gudge

Earl ... great video ... really gives you an idea of what the cave is like

Canon HF100 with a Raynox 5050HD wide angle lens (dry)
Ikelite 6090 housing + larger flat port to make room for the Raynox.

If you are familiar with these Canon cameras its shot in FP24 & Cinemode, edited in Vegas. The rough project is 1080p, but I render it out to 720p.

And as far as Aussie diving goes, Townsville has been a complete disaster for me. I don't recommend ever using jetabroad.com for flight bookings, I got screwed on my flight up here. Then I made my own last minute rebookings to get up here, only to have the whole trip cancelled due to weather. I saw the bad weather in the gulf but didn't think it would hit here so hard, still more on the way tomorrow. I was really on the fence about booking with Ayr's Yongala Dive for a daytrip Friday, but it's either going to be cancelled too, or the vis and swell will probably be terrible, and it would cost me a fortune in last minute hotel bookings and hire cars.

So that's it, cut my losses and head home tomorrow before I find new opportunities to waste money. You win some, you lose some. And fish rock cave was a big win so I guess I can let this go..

Head home as in...... somewhere here or back to Canada?

Sorry the Townsville thing didn't pan out for you. We have certainly enjoyed your videos and what great memories... (for many of us)
